How Life Changes After Losing 30 Pounds

My watch is scuffed up on the face and it bugs me.  I was looking at it and wondering why it was so scratched, my other watches never seemed to do me this way.  Was it a bad resin mix when they made the face, or is it glass and didn’t get the protective coating that each watch gets before leaving the factory in Taiwan?  Did the machine give out that day, or the worker just had a bad morning and decided to take it out on the American consumer?  Something’s got to give, this was a birthday gift for God’s sake - it shouldn’t already be showing its age.  This is a higher end watch than the past ones… this really isn’t fair.

As I’m typing away the other day I keep hearing a clunk and a bonk… if that makes sense.  Tap tap, clunk bonk, tap tap… refrain, rinse and repeat.  You know the routine.  I look over and notice my watch is banging my desk like a Governor at a whore house and it hits me.

My watch is scratched because I am skinnier.  This creates a big shit eatin’ grin on my face (sorry, that’s Texas for happy go lucky).  Not that I am happy about scratching my watch all to hell, but I am happy with my new problems and what I have learned since losing 30 pounds.

Global Warming Is A Myth… right?

Huge Antarctic Ice Chunk Collapses - CNN.com

Come on… it is just bad timing.  A mere coincidence.  Who really believes in this so called thing called “global warming”?  Hogwash.  I hear it is caused by cow poop.  Yeah, that is it.

**end sarcasm**

It isn’t too late to curve this problem…

Picking The Right Snacks For Work

Smart Eating At Work - Part 3 - New York Times

I am a snacker at times.  I guess I have an oral fixation - no homo.  Since starting this quest to lose weight I have usually kept something “healthy” around to snack on.  I have whole natural almonds on stash, along with some less healthy roasted & salty kind (just in case I need something different).  It is hard when you are not at home to eat healthy - but there are definitely things you can keep around to keep you from taking the “easy way out”.  Check this top ten list of things to snack on while you are at work.

How To Start Your Day Off On The Right Foot

Start Today Off On The Right Foot! All of us have schedules, have deadlines of some sort, projects or whatever that keep the days filled with running around and feeling like you are struggling to keep your head above water.  It is normal, at least in the working world.  I can’t speak for those that were born into money (I don’t think any of us reading this can relate) or those that have the luxury to sit around and read their “Myspace” all day while Mom & Dad (or the government) foots the bill.  I assume that it is nice for a while, but for the most part you are left feeling empty and worthless the majority of the time.

For those of us that have to make sure they start the day off strong, and finish even stronger - I have put together some tips to make sure you at least start your day off on the right foot.  I encourage anyone that has ideas to share them in the comments area - this can help everyone get more done, work smarter & not harder and overall live a happier life.

Flip Our Flowerbed: Part 2

We just can’t get enough of this manual labor stuff.  Seems like the minute we get something “done”, we start something else.  I guess it is how things go in general… if we really ever finished, what would we do with all our free time?  We might actually enjoy something… food for thought.

Last weekend we had decided that we would get up early on Saturday and hit up some garage sales and see what we could get at a highly discounted price.  So we picked up a paper the day before and plotted our course and by 7:30 we were out and about - trying to beat the early birds.
