Our Memorial Day Weekend In Ruidoso, NM

We visited Ruidoso, New Mexico – which we do usually once a year.  It is about a 5 hour drive from Midland and gives us an escape to the mountains & cool weather.  Not to mention there is a horse track, casinos & for the ladies… shopping.

So this past weekend we did some of this…

Golf @ Ponderosa Pines in Cloudcroft, NM

Shala @ Ponderosa Pines in Cloudcroft NM

We stopped & smelled the “flowers”…

Needless to say, it was a great weekend in Ruidoso.  Not everything worked out as planned, we didn’t win big at the track or the casino… but we enjoyed be there.  Being with each other.  Being with our family.

How was your Memorial Day weekend?  Do anything fun?  How did you celebrate?  Do share.

Earth Day 2009 w/ Pictures From The Garden

Happy Earth Day everyone!  I hope you take a minute today, walk outside and stretch and let the sun  shine down on you.  Take a minute to notice how beautiful our Earth is… and do something for it for a change.  Instead of the other way around.  Lots of our online gardening friends always say that they wished people would act like they did on Earth Day every single day.  I agree with that, however – it is good that at least for one day everyone is on the same page.

So if you wanted to be super cool, you could make an Earth Day resolution.  Decide on something you are going to do to help make our Earth a better place.  Just a thought.

In celebration of Earth Day – we are just going to post some pictures of our garden and plants.  We kinda feel like this way Earth can speak for itself on Earth Day.  What-cha-think?  Join us if you care to.  Enjoy & HAPPY EARTH DAY!

Just Waiting On The Hummers

Even though we bought this feeder a couple of weeks ago I just now got it up this weekend.  The red bottle joined with the pretty red Verbena flowers should attract some hummingbirds soon.  We are just playing the waiting game now.

Humming bird feeder and red verbena plant

Both the plant and feeder are hung in the middle of windows in our sunroom that are visible from our livingroom.  They are in the perfect spot so we are sure to see the birds when they arrive.  My mom has been bragging on all the hummingbirds in her yard for the past couple of weeks, so I’m really hoping to attrack some so that we can brag too!

Any tips or tricks that you use to get the hummers to your feeders that you would like to share?
