A Guide to Recycling Codes - The Daily Green

In our attempt to live green, we are learning about stuff that we never knew before.  I recently started recycling our plastic bottles up at work and in doing so I was left looking at the bottle reading the recycling symbols trying to figure out what they mean.  Your detergent has a recycling symbol, your water bottles, shampoo bottles… you name it.  Understanding recycling symbols is pretty easy to learn, and if you have some time and are trying to live a bit more green… check out this guide to recycling codes.  Also check out The Daily Green with all kinds of cool information about the green movement.

Free Rice Game - UN World Food Program 

This is a simple way to really make a difference while doing something I know all you sorry suckers out there do.  Play games at work.  This game (Free Rice) is sponsored by the UN World Food Program and allows you to play a vocabulary game that with each correct answer - it donates 20 grains of rice to help end world hunger.  I know, your thinking… why can’t they just give a butt-load of money to help take care of it - instead of making a game out of it?  Well - you have to make the money by getting visitors and selling ads.  Come on… welcome to the intra-web.  duh. 

So if you have some time - make a difference today and play this game.  I played for about 5 minutes and made 800 grains of rice to be given to help fight world hunger.  What can you do in 5 min?

I am going to try and post things from time to time that will help everyone that reads this blog “make a difference” no matter how big or small.  It might be something as small as making a difference in your relationship, something as large as saving our earth by drinking bottled water of a certain brand… or it might be as simple as unplugging your phone charger when you are not using it.  Regardless, it will be something that can make an impact and if enough people do it and it becomes habit - it can really make a difference.

Texans, Vermontians?, Ohio-ians? Rhode Islanders… get your voting shoes on, its Super Tuesday for us guys.

Obviously today is an important day in the election process in our fine country, so I want to urge everyone to get out and vote today (and if it isn’t your time yet - when it is your time).  I have never voted in my life; however this past presidential term has forced me to change my ways and be sure to get to the polls this election years.

I am not here to push my own political agenda towards the masses, not my intention at all.  If you know me well enough, you know who I support, you know what I support and you know I am only advocating the fact that you need to get out and vote.  Democrat, Republican - Third Party… I don’t care - just make your voice heard.

Just think… if you do not vote, you do not have the right to bitch and complain for the next 4 years about the president - because you didn’t play a part in picking him/her.  So let that be your motivation if nothing else.

Don’t let the mindset of…

“My vote won’t count anyway; we are a red/blue state.”

-or -

“My vote isn’t going to count anyway.”

- bull honkey.

Get out there and make it happen capt’n.
