Double Danger’s 1st Contest Winner!!

Ok… so you guys totally lacked in the area of contest participation…

So we had to just draw for the 8 iTunes Song Downloads.  We really did want to give away the rest, but no one wanted it.  ;)

So, without further delay, lets get to the winner of free music.

Bridgette Wins Double Danger's First Contest

Bridgette came over from Kathy’s blog (Mama’s Losin’ It) and she will be getting the goods in her inbox soon enough.  She has her own blog (The Not So Blog, Blog) - be sure to check it out and pat her on the back for a job well done.  Or something.

Congrats to Bridgette, and we will try to figure out a way to give away the other stuff soon enough.

Oh yeah… I’m back from Nerds Unplugged 4… so your computers should be working fine again.

Peppered Out

Did we mention we had a contest, and you should enter if you haven’t arleady… its easy and you get free stuff… come on!

We decided to really load up in terms of peppers in the garden this year.  We love peppers and they are kind of cool because there are so many different kinds and they all have their own feel & flavor.

With our peppers finally producing at the moment… we are seeing new stuff left and right (literally, since they are on both sides).  We have pulled a handfull of banana peppers already, we have pulled some small jalapenos as well.  We are waiting for our hot portugals to go red - and we will be yanking some of those too.

Banana Peppers

This past week we had our first bell peppers start to poke their little butts out and so hopefully within a few weeks we will have one or two of those fresh from the garden.  I know that makes Shala happy.  We have two anaheims on the plant we saved from its doom at Ace hardware and our santiago hybrid pepper plant (that was grown from seed) is one of our biggest plants (as far as peppers go).

Anaheim Pepper Pictures

We have some nice sized jalapenos on our two jalapeno plants finally, was wondering if we were going to be able to pull it off or not. Since mulching this last time… everything has seemed to grow quite a bit.

We are looking for some nice salsa recipes, since we have some onions… we are about to pull some tomatoes for the first time this year and of course we have more peppers than we know what to do with.  Does anyone have some great salsa recipes?  We are from Texas, so we are asking around as well… we have made some in the past - but hell if we can find the recipe we used. haha  Figures.

Here is a recipe for you pepper growers out there… how to make the perfect armadillo eggs.

Deb shared one of her recipes for hot sauce, but I am looking for something for dipping… you know what I’m saying?  Thanks Deb.

If you do, share it already… geeeeez.  Quit being so stingey (did I spell that right?).

The Grand Harvest: Week 2

You thought we wouldn’t exploit our harvest yet again?  This week we had a bit more harvested, as you can see in the picture below.

Are we seeing an upward trend?  haha

Wouldn’t take much would it?

2nd Harvest of the Year

As you can see, 3 more squash, a handfull of okra and some banana peppers.  Not the biggest haul in all the land… but getting bigger nonetheless.

You can also see a few onions that are tiny - they were left from our other onion harvest, and just never really took off.  Oh well - figured we would pull them and use them in something… might as well eh?

How’s your garden growing?  Any big hauls we should know about?  Any we shouldn’t? ;)

The Smallest Harvest On The Planet

If nothing… we have always been honest.

This past week we harvested our first real harvest of the year.  Granted, we had pulled some peppers, but they were tiny and really I don’t count it.  Oh… and one squash.  But this is our first more than just one veggie harvest of the year, so we thought we would show it off.

It is tiny… but its a start of what I’m sure will be many HUGE harvests weekly.  Hell, we are just happy to have something to eat something to show and something to be proud of.  Right?

This would probably feed a small child in a random country… but it is likely to be a nice side item to a killer future meal.

So don’t laugh…

First Harvest

Yup, that is 3 squash and 2 okra pods and a banana pepper.  Eat your heart out AMERICA!

Mikey’s Under The Knife

Whenever I picture a dog having surgery or something - even though I know who his vet is and all that… I still picture a German Shepherd doing the procedure… with some poodles playing the roles of nurses.  You know… like a little doggy surgery.

That would be cool.

Seriously though, Mikey is at the vet this morning and by noon he will no longer be a man… err… male.

Yup, get the big “snip” finally.  With Izzy now on this earth, we are just hoping we are acting fast enough - as last week Izzy was in heat.  The last thing we need/want is Labra-weiners.  That would be a tough sale.  Hell, that would be a tough give-away.

So this post is dedicated to Mikey Danger… the most manliest weiner dog ever… until today.  We had a semi-pro photo shoot last weekend… yeah right.  He just was so tired from chasin’ tail that I was finally able to snap a few pictures without him trying his best to eat the camera.

Mikey in the shade.

Ok… and one shot of Izzy - just because she will be sad without her friend today… she will be looking everywhere for him.

Izzy - regal.
