Taking The Garden Inside (Decorating With Your Garden Pictures)

So this Winter, since we couldn’t garden… or BBQ… we decided to brighten up our home w/ some of our best gardening pictures.  At first we were just printing pictures of family and such, which is cool & all.   You know sweet pictures, ones of Grandma(s) w/ their Grandchildren or Sister-in-law(s) w/ beers.

But as we started looking at our pictures we quickly realized…

We might love our garden more than our family.

Or at least you would think so based our Flickr account.

Anyhow… so why fight it right?  So we printed an equal amount of garden pictures and family pictures.  Just so you can see how cool the garden pictures turned out – we snapped a pic before hanging them.  Check it out…

Pictures of our garden.

Pretty cool eh?  I bet some of you remember them, and if not – you can print your own from our stash by hitting up our Flickr account.  We don’t mind.  Just send us lots of money and free stuff.  You know you want to.

The whole point of this post was to tell you to use your garden photos to spruce up your home.  Why pay for someone else’s, when you can use your own!

P.S. – if you are a gardener… or just like free sh!t – check in next week when we start giving away some gardening goodies to our readers.  Stay tuned!

Potting Our Tomatoes Up The First Time This Year

We vowed not to get behind early this year.  If there is anything worse than getting behind - it is getting behind so early in the year.  Last year we started late, and like in most cases – time is something you cannot make up for.  You can always fertilize more (organically of course!), or maybe keep some lights on them a lil longer – but when it is all said and done, it will all come back to you haunt you.

We did “OK” with peppers last year, late tomatoes… eggplant… okra was perfect.  But anything early in the season – a BIG FAT FAIL.

No early peppers, no early tomatoes… hell our tomatoes seemed to be mediocre for 80% of the growing season last year and if it wasn’t for the mild temps for most of Fall – we would have been near to SHUT OUT on tomatoes.

But this year we weren’t going to let it happen.  We started the end of Jan.  Built us a brand new grow shelf – and now we are reaping the benefits of the time we invested so early.  Hopefully we will have LOTS of plants this year to share with friends and family (we hoped to do that last year and it was a flop).

All that to say this…

We spent our Valentine’s Day getting our first batch of tomatoes potted up for the first time this early growing season.

When Do I Pot Up Tomatoes?

How are you seedlings doing?  Have you potted up for the first time yet?

Lots of people are wondering…

When Do We Pot Up Tomatoes For The First Time?

Let’s help ‘em out.  Got any tips on potting up… do share.

The AeroGarden Is Cool… Real Cool

Last year I picked up an AeroGarden for Shala.  Since doing so – we have grown tons of lettuce, basil, parsley, dill and cilantro.  It really has been a neat lil’ toy – but most importantly it has allowed for things during these cold months that we wouldn’t normally be able to grow.

This morning we picked Cilantro & Basil (regular & purple).  And we still have a bunch left to pick.

AeroGardening our asses off.

Wondering if anyone else has one of these guys?  I know they are pricey – but at the same time… so is regular gardening (when you are a true addict).  We like ours, and are amazed at how fast & effecient things grow in it.  So in other words…

Are you an AeroGardener?  And if so – do you think yours is as cool as we think ours is?
