Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood turns 40 years old today.
I spent too many hours watching this TV show as a child and will always remember the excitment I felt when he walked into his house and changed his shoes and sweater. He always asked “won’t you be my neighbor” and I promise you if I could have actually moved in next to him, I would have.
My favorite part of the show was when the trolly rolled through and took him to the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. I couldn’t wait to see what was happening with King Friday, Queen Sara and all of their neighborhood friends.
Along with this being the 40th anniversary of the show, today would’ve been Fred Rogers’ 80th birthday.
Happy birthday Fred and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Just reading about this today brought back a flood of childhood memories.
Those lil doll things always tripped me out – they are scary lil things. haha
Loved Mr. Rogers though – oh the trips we would take. I remember him chillin’ with a huge gorilla and then going to the bowling alley and getting to go behind the lanes where the pins got set… man – those were the days.
haha, I guess…
I was always into Bugs Bunny and the Road Runner.
Thats all they had back then. 😉
