Dear Mom,

Let me lead off by saying I’m sorry.  I know it doesn’t amount to much coming from a dog - but it is true.

I do not know all the details, but Dad filled me in on what the end result was… and needless to say, it wasn’t good.  I really had no clue what had happened, I remember you hitting the floor - but I just thought you wanted to play with my toy lamb.  I love that lamb.  I really do.

When I saw you on the ground next to it, I couldn’t help but to think that we had something in common (a love for a stuffed lamb), and it made my heart smile.  Little did I know that you were not getting down to play with my lamb at all, actually you were hurt.  Hurt, by something I did.

That… didn’t make my heart smile.

I get excited easily.  Guess it is the puppy in me, still holding on… not wanting to be overtaken to my grown-up side.  Yes, I do have a grown-up side… you have said it before yourself.  Actually, it can be easily confused with my sleepy side, because honestly they are the same.  When I get sleepy… I calm down.  Calm = grown up.  Or at least to most folks, it appears that way.

Yesterday when you let me inside, I was so excited to get to come in.  Not to mention, Grandma & Grandpa were there and you know I love them so much.  I saw them for just a second and then I was wisked inside - which I thought would mean that Grandma & Grandpa would be in there to pet me.  After a quick look around, I noticed this was not the case.  So I headed for the door to find them.

That is where we met.  As you probably remember, I tried to stop - I hit the brakes hard.  That tile floor doesn’t do much for my brakes, specially with my nails being a little long.  So we collided.  It definitely wasn’t intentional.  Please believe that.  When Dad told me everything, I could barely remember what happened - since I didn’t even know you were hurt.

Mikey tried to tell me something was wrong… but I thought he was crazy (and I still think he is a lil).  When Dad pulled me aside last night though, it became clear that I had really done a number on your knee.  I figured something was wrong, because no one fed me lunch and I didn’t see you guys until late… I just figured that y’all had been drinking.  That is usually the case.

I guess what I am trying to say is I let the puppy in me get out of hand and I’m sorry.  I mean it.  If there is anything I can do for you… like chase squirrels, eat random objects or sleep on the bed next to you… I’m here for you.  Seriously.

Just ask.

Love - Izzy (the dog)

P.S. - My memory of the event is a lil cloudy and as I think about it more and more… I really think it could have been Mikey.  Pretty sure I saw him run off all Tonya Harding style.  Pretty sure of it.  Oh and I attached a picture to remind you how cute I am and that I would love a chance to sit next to you.

Izzy - I'm Sorry

Of Cars, Casinos and Burritos

I worked on that title for about 3 seconds… can you tell?

So this weekend was a rare weekend at home for us.  Seems like lately and in the near future we have been/will be on the go.  We have had fun and have a lot more stuff to have fun doing… but man it gets tiring.

I had borrowed my Mother’s car to go to NU4 since it got better gas mileage and since the Expedition’s A/C has been stupid for a while.  While I had it, my Mom & Stepdad took mine and had a guy look at it at the Ford house in Andrews.  Well they got it fixed, and put a new windshield in it… because I guess that is what parents do (make note of that for when I have kids with a broken A/C & cracked windshield).  I was kinda mad at first, but figured they would take my money - but they wouldn’t.  They said to “pay them when I sold it”.  I love my parents… I hope I can be a badass as they are someday.

4 Reasons Your Not Michael Phelps

Phelps in BeijingI used to swim in high school.

Yup, this fat kid used to be lean & mean and wreaked of chlorine.

It seems like 10 million years ago now.  Spending my days in the pool, putting miles in the pool until my arms didn’t work anymore.  Eating everything I could get my hands on… because… when you swim that much, you can’t keep up with your metabolism.

Oh how times have changed.

With the USA swimming phenom Michael Phelps grabbing more gold than Uncle Scrooge, it is easy to think about how it could have been me.  Standing atop the platform waiting for a bald guy to hand you a big fatass gold medal… as the world watches your ever move.

Tough life.

Here are the reasons I fell short, and you can take them and apply them to your situations and learn a little as well.

Simple Organic Ways To Repel Mosquitoes

Just Say NO To MosquitoesEveryone hates Mosquitoes, unless you’re some weirdo with a fetish for the dart-like demons… if so, you might want to stop reading now.  If you are like us, come summertime, fighting those bloodsuckers is just something you have to do.  At least if you want a comfortable place to hang out with friends on a warm summer day.  The reason we started looking for natural or organic ways to repel mosquitoes, is because of a few things.  Two reasons really.

We are always looking for a “greener” way to do things, and usually half the time that “greener” way is cheaper in the long run as a bonus.  Then the second reason being that… well, a no-brainer here - we don’t want the pests around when we have get-togethers or when we are enjoying our lives outside on the weekends.  Respectable reasons, and reasons you are likely here reading this now.

New Dog Bed

We haven’t spoke about it, but our dogs just fought through a bout of kennel cough this past couple of weeks and are doing much better.  Before we realized they had it though, we had picked them up a new bed @ Target.  When we noticed the cough, we decided to wait to give it to them - since we didn’t want to have to wash it immediately and so on.

The dogs are well now and so we let them have it the other night.  That sounded bad… we gave them their wonderful new bed the other night.  That is better.

They loved it and both jumped on it and then fell to sleep pretty quickly.  They looked pretty cute on the bed, so we snapped a few pics.  Enjoy.

Another one... but sleepin'.
