Dear Liam

Dear Liam,

Today you turn 6 years old and we couldn’t be more proud of the little man that you have become.  This year you went off to kindergarten and everyday you go to school excited to learn and see your friends.  Your teacher tells us how smart and sweet you are and even though we already knew those things, it is awesome to see that you show the world what a great kid you are.  School has helped you blossom into a more independent person and you take great pride in the things that you can do on your own.  When I visit you at school I am amazed (and a little sad) at how well you take care of yourself and how you follow the rules and procedures.

The biggest change in your life this year was becoming a big brother, which is funny because you always told us when you were 5 you would be a big brother.  You have embraced the roll like a champ and Mila couldn’t ask for a better big brother.  Your face lights up when you see her, as her’s does when she sees you.  Watching you play with her, sing to her and try to teach her things has been the biggest blessing.

On December 30th you lost your first tooth.  That change barely got in before your birthday and you were so excited it happened.  The tooth was loose for a few weeks and one day while chewing on a rag, which is why your shirt is wet, it just fell out onto your arm.  We were thankful it wasn’t a scary experience and instead it was pain free and fun.

This year you have continued to love Legos, anything Imaginext, playing outside and reading.  We introduced you to chapter books and you love us reading to you before bed.  I hope that continues for years to come and you don’t get too old for us to lay with you and read.  It seems that night time is when we have the best talks with you.  You always talk about your day and your hopes and fears.

Of course it is a little sad that you are growing so fast, but it’s so fun to see the person that you are becoming.  I am so proud of you and love you more than words could ever express.

Love,

Mama
